If you are looking for a 2″ j hook with a beam clamp that will mount on a flange up to 1/2″ thick and be able to rotate a full 360 degrees, this is the j hook you are looking for. This version has a standard UL listed hook mounted to pressed beam clamp similar to the Caddy BC200, Minerallac 600 or B Line BC442. Some hangers have the beam clamp mounted to the back of the hook that limits you to running your cable with the beam or bar joist. This hook is mounted in such a way that it can be rotated 360 degrees if necessary. Simply loosen the screw and turn. Now you can run with the iron, at a right angle or even diagonally across a structure.
The real advantage this type of beam clamp used on this assembly versus a j hook with a hammer on beam clamp is that you can mount to any flange from 1/8″ to 1/2″. With a hammer on beam clamp, you have to have at least an approximate idea of how thick the flange is. Usually the clamps will be made in a size range of 1/8″ to 1/4″ flange, 5/16″ to 1/2″ flange and 9/16″ to 3/4″. By far the most standard is the 1/8″ to 1/4″ but there is nothing more frustrating than trying to hammer on a j hook when the clamp is just a little to tight. To be sure a j hook with hammer on clamp is still a very common part, we sell tons, but if you don’t know the flange size for use the standard beam clamp is a better bet.
If you are looking at j hook tree bade up of 2″ j hooks with a beam clamp, especially if it is a quad hanger, the pressed type beam clamp will offer more holding power and is a little more rigid than a j hook tree suspended by a hammer on clamp.
